

Throughout his journey, Mono attempts to use these televisions as portals to enter the hallway from his dream.

Using a wooden door as a raft, Mono and Six drift across a body of water and wash up on the beach of the Pale City, which is shrouded by mist, constant rain, and strewn with old televisions. The Hunter pursues the pair through the woods until he corners them in a shed and they kill him with a rifle. He frees Six, who is being held prisoner in the basement by the masked Hunter who lives there. Mono rescues Six from the Bullies, and they escape from the long-necked Teacher who rules the institution. Mono and Six enter the School, where they are separated when Six is captured by the Bullies, the School’s rabid students. He journeys through the Wilderness, avoiding animal traps, and enters a decrepit shack.
